Toomer Family Blog

Shamele, This is a great idea. I think that it will be interesting to see how it catches on. Hopefully, the family will use it.

I hope so too. Based on the increase in emails lately, I think that everyone will enjoy this. If not. We can talk to one another.

I almost blew the thing up this afternoon. Actually I did blow it up. I just called on the ancestors, who if living would say "the Inter -what? Blog? HTEmma who" But then I thought of the family visiting and saying "what the heck is this mess!" Quickly I got myself together.

I am glad that you has a moment to visit. You have full administrative rights. I made a mistake putting my name in the profile, as opposed to Toomer Family. I was going to delete the blog and start anew, but I did not want to risk lossing the URL with Toomer Family.

Hi everyone, hi Shamele, This Blog is awesome! I am so excited about meeting everyone and am particularly thrilled about the DNA results. I’ve met a few great-Uncles and Aunts in the past, but still feel somewhat new to the Toomer family since I grew up in Philly and have had little contact with the family in New Jersey. It is a privilege and honor to be a part of such a remarkable family. I can’t wait to meet you all!

    See you soon.

HEY MEL, THIS IS REALLY GREAT. I AM SUPPOSED TO BE WORKING RIGHT NOW BUT SINCE YESTERDAY I HAVE BEEN OBSESSED WITH THIS SITE. I THOUGHT I LOVED MY FAMILY BEFORE, BUT THIS IS TAKING ME TO A WHOLE "NOTHER" LEVEL OF RESPECT FOR TOOMERS. EVERY LINK I GO TO IN THIS SITE IS PULLING ON MY HEARTSTRINGS AND I HAVE EVEN SHED A FEW TEARS. CAN'T WAIT TIL THE REUNION THIS YEAR. LOVE YOU, LIA

I know what you mean about shedding tears when reading family histories. I remember working on the 2000 Reunion Journal. Since my main goal was desktop publishing and design, I did not really read the Journal until after the reunion. It took me a week to read the 12 biographies on Momma and Poppa's kids. I cried all of the way thru.

Then I understood why people were crying when we passed them out on Toomer Avenue. At the time I though, "we are just some emotional people." (Which you know we can be.) Those biographies are truly blessed.

I can not wait to see you at the reunion! Oh yeah, your Aunt, the evil one with a temper, is wearing me out about the DNA test results. Can you talk to her. Maybe get her a prescription for Paxill or something.
